What we don't have yet
Splitwise has been around a long time and does some things we don't (receipt scanning and currency conversion are in its paid Pro plan). If you rely on these every day, stay for now.
- Receipt scanningComing later: snap a receipt and split it by item.
- Currency conversionOne currency per potluck, for now.
- Recurring expensesRent and bills that add themselves are on the list.
Questions
Is Splitwise free?
Splitwise has a free plan, but free users can add up to 4 expenses a day. Its paid plan, Splitwise Pro, removes the limit and adds currency conversion, receipt scanning, search and charts. Potluck is free with no daily limit.
What's the Splitwise daily limit?
On the free plan, up to 4 expenses a day. Splitwise's help pages say you can add more once the daily limit resets, but not when that is.
Do my friends need a Splitwise account?
To see a group and add to it, yes: you invite them by email or phone number. On the web you can add someone by name only, but they can’t log in to see the group until their email or phone is added. In Potluck, friends tap a link and pick their name, with no account.
Can I move a group from Splitwise to Potluck?
Importing is coming. Until then, the simplest way is to settle up the old group and start fresh. Or carry the balances over: for each payment Splitwise suggests, add one expense in Potluck paid by the person who’s owed and split only to the person who owes.
